Colorado Snow Storm Causes Multiple Auto Accidents
A second unexpected spring snowstorm in the past week has wreaked havoc on Denver roads. Approximately six inches of snow hit the Denver metro area just in time for Monday morning rush hour, leading to many auto accidents and several fatalities.
Three people died in three separate accidents in the Denver metro area this morning. In all three auto accidents, the driver lost control of the vehicle and crossed into oncoming traffic, leading to the fatalities. There were many other accidents that did not lead to fatalities:
- An 18-vehicle pileup, including four tractor trailers, caused one serious injury and many other minor injuries
- A multiple car pileup occurred after a driver stopped to help a stranded car and was rear-ended by a semi-truck
- A school bus accident occurred when a truck hit the bus, tipping it on its side
Snowy and icy road conditions were responsible for all of these accidents. It is extremely important to drive more cautiously and leave a greater following distance behind other vehicles when driving in the snow. Defensive driving may help you avoid serious injuries in an auto accident.
When you are injured in an auto accident caused by another driver, it is important to consult an experienced auto accident attorney immediately to see if you are eligible to receive compensation for your damages.

6-Year-Old Boy Dies at Monster Truck Show
A 6-year-old boy died at a monster truck show in Washington after pieces of one of the trucks hit the boy. One other person was injured in the truck accident.
During the freestyle competition at the show, parts began flying off of a truck that was doing doughnuts. The debris launched over the safety barrier, landing all over the stands. One of the pieces, weighing between seven and twelve pounds, hit the boy in the head.
Tragically, the monster truck show was allowed to continue. Despite the injuries to the young boy and another man, the show went on as if nothing had happened. Many spectators in the crowd tried throwing cups at the show participants in order to get their attention so that they would stop the show. Others simply left the building with their children to avoid possible injury.
It appears that the incident was caused by a defective vehicle. Several other monster truck shows were held throughout the weekend, but the defective truck was pulled from those shows.
The promoters of the show will most likely face a serious wrongful death lawsuit as a result of the incident.
If you have a wrongful death claim in the Phoenix, Arizona area, please contact the Law Offices of Snyder & Wenner, P.C. today to schedule a consultation.

Flatbed Flips Its Load of Bees
With stories of semi trucks crashing and endangering drivers when their loads spill all over the roads, comes yet another tale of loss. In this case, the load was bees. Thousands and thousands of bees. A flatbed truck carrying a load of bees ran off the road and flipped near St. Charles, Minnesota around 6:45 this morning. Several boxes of bees broke open and swarmed the truck. Passersby attempted to help the driver, but they backed off due to the number of bees. The driver was finally able to crawl away, but was taken to the hospital with injuries.
Pattern of Loss
While it might be easy to laugh at this kind of accident, especially when there is no loss of life, the truth of the matter is that bees can be just as deadly to some people as certain lethal chemicals. Though only a small percentage of the population is allergic to bees, to those who are, and may see thousands of bees swarm, the feeling of terror can be just as real. Anaphylactic shock is not a pleasant way to go.
But, consider the economic loss as well. In an age when a third of America's crops are pollinated by bees, the loss of millions of them, as was the case in Sacramento back in March, can have a ripple effect on all of us. Couple this with colony collapse disorder, a mysterious disorder that kills off entire colonies, and the problem gets even larger.
At any rate, semi trucks carry thousands of loads every year that could be deemed dangerous in a certain light. What causes the truck accident is often just as important as finding out the load they were carrying. Obviously a truckload of bees is not a truckload of sulfuric acid, but things like driver fatigue, mechanical failure, or even road debris can have tragic consequences.

Husband of Woman Killed by Tread Separation Accident Seeks $100 Million
On May 15, 2006, a Texas woman was riding in a 2000 Mazda half-ton pickup driven by a friend when one of the tires suffered a catastrophic tread separation, sending the truck into a spinning flip. She later died from injuries sustained in the auto accident. Now her husband, acting on behalf of himself, his children, and the estate of his wife, filed a product liability suit against the tire manufacturer, Cooper Tire and Rubber Company. His Wrongful Death suit asks for $100 million in actual and punitive damages against the firm for what the complaint described as "wanton and willful recklessness." The product liability complaint alleges that the tire was defective in design and manufacture, making it "unreasonably dangerous," even when used as intended. Furthermore, the complaint alleges that Cooper Tire failed to adequately test the tires before marketing them, and that there existed reasonable economic alternatives that would have made the tire safer, if they had been pursued by Cooper. Even worse, the complaint alleges that Cooper knew of the defects but concealed or failed to disclose these facts. Fatal Truck Accident Caused by Permit Violation
On January 8, a truck hauling a modular trailer at night in violation of its permit to keep its unrealistic delivery schedule, led to a fatal crash that killed two passengers of a Kia Sephia. The truck, owned by Davidson Industries of Commerce City, CO, was hauling a portable office for use during the filming of the ESPN Winter X-Games. While the truck was waiting to make its left turn onto eastbound Highway 82 the oversize trailer blocked both lanes of westbound traffic. Because the trailer was unlit, a car traveling westbound at the posted speed limit, 65 mph, hit the trailer without ever seeing it. The driver and passenger in the front seat of the car were both killed on the scene of the underride accident, while the passenger in the rear seat survived with serious injuries. Unfortunately, this fatal truck crash alone is not enough to revoke this company's permit to haul these dangerous loads. In order for the permit to be revoked, someone must take action to get hearings held to consider the revocation. If you or someone you love has been injured or killed in an accident with a trucking company that failed to comply with the law, you cannot let them back on the road to endanger and possibly kill other people. Contact an experienced truck injury lawyer at The Injury Lawyers, P.C. to get compensation for your injuries and keep dangerous truckers off the road. Ohio: Dangerous Crossroads of US Trucking Industry
As a central crossroads in the United States, Ohio highways carry more freight per mile than any other state in the Union. North-South on I-71 or east-west on I-70, traffic travels from the Great Lakes to the Gulf of Mexico and from sea to shining sea goes through Ohio. This traffic brings great revenue for the state and supplies us with all the goods and services we need. Unfortunately, this traffic has its price. Over 150 people were killed, and hundreds more injured by in trucking accidents on Ohio roads last year. What is the cause for these deaths and injuries? Sadly, it is often the case that trucking companies have put their profits and schedules over the safety of the Ohio drivers with whom large trucks share the road. Ohio issued more citations for trucks driving overweight than any other state, except for California and Texas, showing that trucking companies are cramming the highways with trucks traveling with dangerously heavy loads. If you or someone you love has been injured by this dangerous practice, contact the Columbus, Ohio law firm of Robert W. Kerpsack Co, LPA to get in touch with an experienced truck accident lawyer who can look out for your rights. Labels: Ohio, truck accident, wrongful death
Couple Would Give back $5.5 million to Have Old Life
A couple that was awarded $5.5 million in October following a crash with a tractor-trailer on Highway I-35 in central Texas said they would rather have their lives before the accident than the money. On June 16, 2006, the couple was driving in the right-hand lane of the highway when they witnessed traffic slowing ahead. They slowed in response, but the tanker truck behind them did not. Instead, it steamrollered their 2002 Ford Mustang, crushing it and sending it into the car in front of them. The woman, who was driving, suffered a break in every bone in her body above the waist. She spent 91 days in intensive care and is still receiving a high level of care. Her left arm is completely paralyzed and her right arm is partially paralyzed. In addition to the health problems, the couple expressed anger that the semi truck driver is still on the road, having received only a class C misdemeanor for following too closely, although he is working for another shipping company. It is hard to believe that any company would hire the driver after the accident, but the practice is common. The only way to stop it is to make it highly unprofitable. If you have suffered a severe injury as a result of a trucking accident, you have a responsibility to pursue your claim. Imprint of License Plate, Logo Brings Semi-Truck Operator to Settle Lawsuit
Two men who were injured when their pickup was run off the road by an 18-wheeler, then insulted with a ticket that accused them of being at fault, received a $900,000 dollar settlement when the trucking company realized the men could prove they were not at fault. On December 5, 2004, the two men were driving their pickup on interstate 295 in Florida, when they were rear-ended by a tractor-trailer owned and operated by L & S Logistics Services. The men were left in the woods in their inverted pickup. Then, when they were rescued by paramedics and being taken to the hospital for treatment of their severe injuries, a sate trooper came in and issued a ticket to the driver. However, the men refused to accept this, and they hired a personal injury lawyer to prove they were not at fault for the crash. In examining the trailer they were towing the night of the crash, they found that the semi truck's logo, its grill, and license plate had left an impression on the trailer's doors. Then they discovered that the driver's license had been suspended 11 times and had been involved in 4 previous accidents while driving a tractor-trailer. Furthermore, the trucking company had destroyed evidence of the crash, and the judge was considering punitive damages when the trucking company decided to settle. This kind of driver should not be allowed to be on the road, and if you have been injured in an automobile accident with a semi truck, it is entirely possible the driver that hit you has hurt other people, and will continue hurting people unless you can get them off the road and penalize the trucking company that put them out there.
