South Carolina Bar

In the State of South Carolina, many people are injured because of the negligence, recklessness, or intentional misconduct of an individual or company. These people have the opportunity to file a personal injury lawsuit with the help of a lawyer in their state. Unfortunately, not all people that call themselves lawyers are reputable or able to properly launch a lawsuit. Membership in the South Carolina Bar is the reassurance needed to insure that an individual is qualified to present a court case in front of South Carolina courts.

The South Carolina Bar is an association that represents legal professionals in the state of South Carolina. The association works to advance justice, professionalism, and understanding of the law. The Bar sponsors many programs intended to meet these goals. In accordance with the Bar’s dedication to the public, it supports a wide array of public services as well.

The South Carolina Bar began in 1884 as the South Carolina Bar Association, a voluntary organization of approximately 200 lawyers. The South Carolina State Bar was created in 1968. The two organizations were merged in 1975. Currently the Bar has a membership of more than 11,000 reputable lawyers.
