Appalachian School of Law

Established in 1994, the Appalachian School of Law is located amidst the Central Appalachian mountains of Virginia, providing students with an exhilarating and challenging environment in which to pursue a Juris Doctorate degree. The curriculum of this law school emphasizes dispute resolution, professional responsibility, and ethics. In addition to the traditional curriculum, each student is expected to secure an externship with a judge or lawyer during the summer between the first and second years in order to expand upon their practical legal skills. The faculty and staff utilize a student-centered approach to the professional training of lawyers, focusing on honesty, fairness, integrity, and respect for others.

Students of the Appalachian School of Law enjoy a new campus, complete with modern classrooms, moot court rooms, seminar rooms, up-to-date technology, and a growing library collection. Outside of the law school classroom, students may participate in various campus, community, and leadership activities. The School of Law takes pride in being a community participant and serving as a resource for the people and institutions of the region.
